MathCountsMATHCOUNTS® is a national enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement through grassroots involvement in every U.S. state and territory.
With over 22 years of experience, MATHCOUNTS is one of the country's largest and most successful education partnerships involving volunteers, educators, industry sponsors and students. President George W. Bush and former Presidents Clinton, Bush and Reagan have all recognized MATHCOUNTS in White House ceremonies. The MATHCOUNTS program has also received two White House citations as an outstanding private sector initiative. ESPN has featured Mathletes® in each of the past three National Competitions. It is scheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Prestonsburg Community College at Prestonsburg, Kentucky. The state competition will be held on Friday, March 30 through Saturday, March 31, 2007.
Big Sandy Chapter InvolvementThe Big Sandy Chapter of KSPE coordinates administrating the MathCounts program for the Kentucky counties of Pike, Floyd, Martin, Johnson, Magoffin, and Morgan. The Chapter competition is held in February at Prestonsburg Community College at Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Approximately 20-30 chapter members volunteer their time each year.
